We are active in the community and host several food-free or allergy-friendly events throughout the year. We encourage each FACETeer and group member to participate in these events. You may find more specific information in the Raising Awareness section of the website.

Please know that you are not alone - FACET understands.

Newly Diagnosed?

When a food allergy is first diagnosed; the news can be daunting.  Many questions arise like:

             What can we eat?
How do I read food labels?
Which restaurants are safe for us?
How do I work with the school and/or childcare provider?

We invite you to review our website for some of these answers. Typically, strict avoidance of the food causing allergic reactions is the course of action.  If you still have questions after visiting, many people find it helpful to speak with a licensed dietitian.  Your allergist or pediatrician should be able to recommend one to you.

AllergyHome has an informative online guidebook, Living Confidently with Food Allergy, that "teaches important information about food allergy, suggests ways to educate your child and others, and offers helpful tips and support.  You will find that as you learn more, managing allergies will become part of your daily life. You will begin to feel more in control and less anxious or worried about your child’s allergy." - from Welcome Letter, Living Confidently with Food Allergy
